This picture of Great Grandpa Robetr II Clarke was probably taken in the 1880s; the two ladies are possibly his daughters,Catherine and Edith (Grandpas twin).
The shop in the above Arcade, a store for artists materials as it was when I saw it in about 1981. Presumably the door on the left was the entance to upstairs (fathers birthplace)
When Great Grandpa Robert II Clarke retired in 1913, he was presented with a gold watch and chain as well as an illuminated address. The event was reported in the trade magazine,"The Draper and Drapery Times" as shown on the left.
